Unit 11 Evaluation

When applying for university I used multiple different communication skills. For the application process I used these skills to communicate well with UCAS and the people involved with making my application. When making application I was in contact with my tutor to make sure the application was correct and format well. These communications mean’t that my application looked professional and applying to the universities on time. However when applying in sent it off on the deadline which it would have been preferable to not to do this as I could have had them sent off much sooner.

To make sure that I applied to the best universities I when on multiple different open days to see the universities and the courses also. These open days helped me gain an understanding of the way the university works and how the course is ran and gave me the best understanding of how to sort out the best and worst universities and which I want to apply to.

When writing my personal statement I was also in contact with my tutor to make sure this was the best it could possibly be. When writing my personal statement I found it hard to write about my self and talk in the way I need to. Also when writing my personal when writing my personal statement I had to constantly spell check the entire thing to check for grammatical errors as well as spelling errors. This was time consuming but mean’t that the personal statement was properly written. My personal talked about my personal life and hobbies but could have talked more about my media actives outside of college and why they were so important.

My showreel was good but could have been better as some the material used wasn’t the best and could have been better. It was well edited together but the way it flowed could have been better as the music was a bit to fast paced but worked ok. Also some of the shots could have been better suited to different place or lengths but still fit ok but could be better. The showreel is ok but could be better as the clips and music could be better.

In conclusion I used and developed many of my communication skills and made sure that all of my applications to my university are the best they can be. The personal statement that I wrote was the best it could be and had the relevant information that I needed to put into to it make it the best that it would be and get the best reception from the universities. My CV and personal profile were good and look professional which would me to get a job in media and give me the best chance at this. My showreel is the best I could make it could be and looks ok but could be better though better footage. Through the Showreel, Cv, Personal Statement and Personal Statement I believe that the Personal Statement was the most effective at helping me get offers for university as it was well written and explained the most about me. The other methods that I used weren’t as effective as they didn’t have enough information about me in them to make them very effective and this is something I could have done better.
